]]>Leave Pippies Beachhouse 7am sharp, our Fraser Island Tours kicks off with a 20min barge ride from Inskip Point to Fraser Island.
Drive in awe up the first portion of 75 mile beach to Eurong. We then head inland towards Lake McKenzie
Arrive at Lake McKenzie and take a dip in these incredibly pure, clear waters. Words do not do this amazing lake any justice.
Drive to Central Station where we eat lunch and walk along the waters of the very special Wanggoolba Creek. Learn Fraser Island’s history in a time before this beautiful island was protected. We then leave for a drive back to 75-mile beach and onto Pippies camp.
Arrive at our incredible campsite and chill after a long day.
Dinner time! Cook a BBQ together with your new Fraser Family and spend the night socialising together next to a campfire or under the covered seating area.
Wake up early (hangovers are no excuse!) to a simple, easy breakfast of toast and cereal before getting back in the cars to head further north.
Arrive at the Champagne Pools to cleanse under awesome waves crashing over into the natural rock pools, creating the bubbly “champagne.” Then back to the cars again for a short drive to our next destination.
Climb the stunning Indian Head (one of the few rocks formations on the island) to spot the amazing marine wildlife that can be seen off of Fraser Island. If luck is on our side, we can normally spot Humpback Whales (August – October), Sharks, Sea Turtles, Dolphins, huge Rays and many schools of tropical fish. Next a drive back to Pippies camp for lunch and then onto our next location.
A short drive down the beach is the largest creek on the Eastern Beach; Eli Creek. Take a walk up the boardwalk with a rubber ring and float down these serene waters. Eli Creek pumps up to 4 million litres of fresh water into the sea every hour!
The second to last location of the day is a short drive from Eli Creek and Pippies’ Fraser Island Tours camp; the Maheno shipwreck. As the sun lowers in the sky watch the rusty wreck against the sea sky and incredible coloured sands seen up the coast.
Finally, a short stop at The Pinnacles on the way back to Pippies camp. Seen from the beach this sand formation is a prime example of the coloured sands seen all up the Fraser Coast.
Arriving back at Pippies camp to take a breather after an amazing day, wash away the sand in the amazing amenities block just a short walk from our campsite…… then more food! As part of our Fraser Family, we cook spaghetti bolognese together with garlic bread, followed by another night of socialising under some of the Southern Hemisphere’s most spectacular stars.
Wake up for your last day in paradise! Another quick and simple breakfast before setting off to the final location on our Fraser Island Tours.
Drive a moderate distance down the Eastern Beach to the entrance of Lake Wabby. Here we will walk for around 40-45 mins down a beautiful sand track through the bush and out onto the Hammerstone Sandblow. Located a short walk along the sand blow, Lake Wabby is the deepest lake on Fraser Island. So be sure to take a dip and chill next on its shores.
After our lunch on the beach, it is time to make our way back to the barge and Rainbow Beach. But not before hunting for the mysterious Eugarie and learning the meaning of our name: Pippies!
Arrive back at Pippies Beachhouse in Rainbow Beach between 1pm and 4:30pm. (dependant on the tides) Chill for one last night with your new Fraser Family!
Wondering how to get to us to experience your Fraser Island Tour, well easy hop onto a bus either from Noosa or Brisbane and head up North to Rainbow Beach. The bus stop is located directly opposite Pippies Beachhouse where we depart from to start your Fraser Island 4wd adventure.

Day 1 Flinders Ranges National Park
It’s an early start today as we set out from the City of Churches across the Nullarbor. Headed north, we’ll stop in at Clare for a quick coffee before continuing on to the rugged gorges and Red Gums of the Flinders Ranges. Along the way there’ll be the opportunity for a bit of a leg stretch on a stroll down Alligator Gorge (no crocs here, though keep an eye out for snakes), then it’s on to Quorn, home of the PichiRichi Railway, for lunch. You’ll be spending tonight in Warren Gorge, camped out under the stars of the Southern Cross.
As the sun is setting and while your evening meal is being prepared, you will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful Warren gorge in the Flinders Ranges. It is here that you will get the opportunity to see a Yellow-Footed rock wallaby, almost driven to extinction by introduced ‚Feral‚animals, at Warren Gorge they are beginning to ‚Bounce Back!‚
Today we drive approx. 400 km (4 hours) in total with stops along the way. We’ll be bush camping (no facilities) and your lunch and dinner are included.
Day 2 Coodlie Park & the Eyre Peninsula
The Eyre Peninsular is one of those great many secrets people are only just discovering and once they do they are blown away! Keep your cameras at the ready for the Big Galah, an eight-metre-high fibreglass structure overlooking the gift shop in the tiny town of Kimba. After a quick pit stop for lunch, it’s back on the road to Venus Bay, Talia Caves and the Lake Newland sand dunes (where adrenaline junkies can test out their sand boarding skills). In the afternoon we’ll pull in to Coodlie Park for a night’s stay on a working farm which is also our home base!
Tonight you will share a meal and stories with travellers from our other tours sleep in our super cool swag huts and shower facilities are available.Today we drive approx 450km (5 hours) in total with stops along the way and all meals are included.
Day 3 Baird Bay & Fowlers Bay
Just up the road from Coodlie Park lies Baird Bay, an environment famed for its watery wildlife. This morning you’ll get the option to swim, snorkel and splash about with playful sea lions and dolphins on a 3-hour cruise. This outsourced adventure done by Baird Bay eco tours is an optional experience and at only $160 will be an experience you will treasure forever. Following a picnic lunch on the beach, we’ll continue driving along the coast to our secluded camping spot in Fowlers Bay.
Today we drive approx 5 hours in total with stops along the way and camp at Fowlers Bay campground which has shower facilities. All meals included.
Day 4 The Great Australian Bight
Days don’t get much more Australian than this one. Not only do we cross the 5,320-kilometre-long dingo fence this morning; we also take a snap or two at the famous wombat, emu, camel road sign on the Nullarbor and stop off at Bunda Cliffs to see where Australia, quite literally, drops into the ocean. Come arvo we cross the border into WA, where tonight’s free entertainment is provided courtesy of the celestial sphere.
Today’s distance is approx. 7 hours, with break stops. Tonight we bush camp (no facilities) under the Southern skies on the Nullarbor and all your meals are provided.
Day 5 Esperance & Cape Le Grand National Park
With their planetary sounding names and strewn about space junk, the small towns of Balladonia and Norseman have a slightly intergalactic atmosphere about them. Balladonia shot to worldwide fame in 1979 when the Skylab space station returned to earth here rather abruptly. After lunch we continue the drive to Esperance, which may seem like a bustling metropolis after five days in the outback.
Today we drive approx 7 hours, with stops along the way and we set up camp in spectacular Cape Le Grand National Park where you also have showers facilities. All meals included.
Day 6 Cape Le Grand National Park
Crystal clear waters, squeaky white sand, expansive granite bluffs… and sunbathing kangaroos? How you spend your day here is wholly up to you: set out on a coastal bush walk, splash about in the sea, fiddle around with your camera aperture or just kick back with your new buds along the beach.
We will take a hike to Frenchman’s Peak, where beautiful vistas span right across Cape Le Grand and the Recherche Archipelago. Locals reckon Frenchman’s Peak was named after the shape of French naval hat, but we’re not so sure.
We drive approx 10 minutes today, and walks will vary from 2-4 hours. You will have shower facilities and all meals included.
Day 7 Cape Le Grand National Park & Stirling Ranges
Take a morning stroll down to the beach and spot some kangaroo’s then settle in for the onwards drive to our Stirling Ranges campsite.
We drive for about 4 hours today, and walk for two hours. We camp in a private campground in the Stirling Ranges where you have shower and toilet facilities and even limited phone charging! All meals included.
Day 8 Stirling Ranges to Quinninup
Today’s a day for keeping cameras close and clicking fingers at the ready. Travelling along Western Australia’s answer to Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, you’ll be treated to superb views of sun-bleached boulders, turquoise seas and dramatic red-rock cliffs shaped by eons of crashing waves and rolling tides. From the coast to the forest, we’ll veer off into the Valley of the Giants for a stroll through the ancient empire walk.
It is just over 5 hours from Mt Trio to Quinninup, with stops along the way. Tonight we swag camp at a caravan park with shower and toilet facilities and all meals are provided.
Day 9 Quinninup to Margaret River
Today it’s time to eat, drink and be merry, tasting the delicious local fare of Margaret River. Boutique breweries, chocolate, cheese and even a fudge factory, today you will have time to browse and explore.
Today there is just a short two hour drive and all meals are included.
Day 10 Margaret River to Perth
On the last day of the trip you’ll wake to the now-familiar warble of kookaburras and cockatoos before taking the coastal road to Perth. Check out the Ngilgi caves and get the lowdown on this amazing underground world, then gain a totally different insight into local culture during a meet-up with some of the people indigenous to the area. A final stint on the road will bring us into Perth.
Today we drive approx. 5 hours and please make sure you have booked your Perth accommodation prior to departure. You’ll get your breakfast and lunch and although there are no formal activities planned it is usual for the group to get together and reflect on the big journey together over a few drinks and meal (at own expense).
Optional Experiences
There is one optional experience on this tour.
Swim with sea lions and dolphins ($160 p.p. guaranteed)
[Highly recommended optional experience (!)]
This is an amazing experience – you may have swum with dolphins at other places around the world but the interaction that you will have with the sea lions and dolphins at Bairds Bay will leave you breathless. Baird bay is a very sheltered bay on the Eyre Peninsula and passengers aboard the boat for a short ride to our first stop, which is to swim with sea lions. This takes place in approximately 2 metres of water. It is a natural experience and the sea lions come into the sheltered lagoon to interact with us. After this, we head further out into the bay to swim with the dolphins. This happens in four metres of water but is still within the sheltered bay. The tour is 3-4 hours, wetsuit and snorkel equipment is provided at no additional cost.
As this activity is outsourced, only limited spaces are available. By confirming and saying your intentions now, we can guarantee your position on the tour. Pay the operator direct $160 on the day of activity
The operators of this tour operate independent to Nullarbor Traveller.
Weather can play an important part in the operation of the tours and the operators make their own risk assessment and decision about the operation of the tour each day.Any money collected is refunded if the tour does not operate.
