]]>Rum Runner passengers meet at the company office (Rum Runner – Marlin Marina, E finger, Berth 3) by 7.00 am for an approximate 7.30 am departure.
From 11.00 am : Arrive at Thetford Reef. 4 dives and snorkeling sessions.
The Dive Instructor will brief everyone on general dive safety and details of the first dive site. Diving will be tailored to suit individual experience levels. If anyone is a bit rusty one of the crew will accompany him or her on their first dive if they wish. Guided dives can be arranged if required.
It is time for some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world; Sites include The Labyrinth, the Lagoon, Hurricane Bay, Coral Gardens ; from shallow coral gardens, isolated pinnacles to caverns, swim through’s and spectacular walls.
Dinner is served as you watch the sun setting over the mountains behind Cairns.
During the evening Guests can relax, have a few social drinks and get to know each other as the certified divers get ready for the night dive. Evenings are a relaxed affair, with just a chat and a few drinks on deck while at anchor in the calm water of the company’s protected night moorings. In calm clear weather, the stars over the Great Barrier Reef are an awesome sight.
On the second day 2 dives and snorkel sessions are on offer. Firstly an invigorating morning dive and snorkel, before a hearty breakfast sees the start to a day of diving & exploring. Last dive includes swim-through’s and caverns, then a quick lunch break before heading off before noon.
Now before departing the Reef for a sail to the tropical city of Cairns. FInish the trip with a couple of drinks going over the photos and videos with your fellow divers and snorkelers.
Day 2 afternoon: Return to Cairns. As you sail back through the Barrier Reef, you can watch out for dolphins or whales..Or you can just relax on deck until you feel like getting up.
Arrive at Cairns at 3.00 pm, and later in the evening meet with your new friends and fellow divers for a night out in Cairns.

With the berths in each cabin set up single bunk style, as typical for anyone familiar with sailboats, the cabins are not spacious or very private.they are for resting and sleeping only. However the common area includes a dining area and both covered and open decks.
Overall, Rum Runner is a comfortable sailboat. Well suited for adventurous divers and further more fantastic value but is by no means a luxury liveaboard boat. Those seeking privacy and luxury should consider trips on other vessels.

Day 1
Depart Coral Sea Marina and set sail towards Whitsunday Island, enjoying lunch along the way. At Tongue Bay, our guide will take you for a bushwalk to Hill Inlet Lookout for some photos and then onto the world-famous Whitehaven Beach to relax and chill. Once back on board enjoy sunset snacks and beverages on your way to our night anchorage. Enjoy a BBQ dinner on the deck and a photo slideshow of the day’s photos.
Day 2
Wake up to the beauty of the islands, enjoy breakfast on the deck, then a guided kayak tour exploring hidden inlets and fringing reef, a trip highlight. After a gentle 2 hour gentle, gear up for a snorkel to enjoy the underwater sea life. Then it’s back on board for a BBQ lunch and then set sail back to Airlie Beach.

]]>Firstly Ocean Rafting 1 day southern Lights offers three days in one, including an exhilarating ride to Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet. Pristine snorkelling reefs and guided Whitsunday Island National Parks walks. Secondly Ocean Rafting is the only tour to have direct access to all areas of the stunning and iconic Hill Inlet beach. Thirdly a special snorkel sites at Hook Island and Border Island ensure a memorable underwater experience.
The semi rigid inflatable vessels are super fast allowing guests to experience a fun ride.
For instance only 32 passengers at most are allowed for personal snorkelling lessons and the pleasure of a small group. A buffet style lunch is served at the beach with plenty of time to swim in the turquoise ocean or just relax on the silica white sand.
The Southern Lights tour visits both the northern and southern ends of Whitehaven Beach. Enjoy at least two hours relaxing on the world famous white silica sand.

]]>New Horizon is a beautiful 97ft classic wooden Schooner. Making her a very strong, seaworthy boat. New Horizon has some beautiful features like a human size figurehead on her bow. Restored hardwood decks and beautifully restored timber bunks below, paddle boards, dive board, dining, and movie lounge.
She has a new dive board added which is fun for those who have always wanted to “walk the plank”. Have fun with friends on our new paddleboards and enjoy movies (on request) in our movie lounge on our comfy bean bags… Don’t forget our friendly crew that will Endeavor to make the trip a lifetime memory.
Firstly the majestic New Horizon leaves the Marina at approximately 2:15pm. And after an orientation briefing we cruise across Whitsunday Passage past the Molle group of islands. Along the southern end of Hook Island to Nara inlet. This is a beautiful sheltered bay for a very protected, calm and stable night sleep.
Once at the overnight anchorage there is plenty of time to enjoy a swim in the warm, sun-drenched tropical ocean. As the day moves through to night it is time to enjoy a beautiful steamed fish supper. And relax with a few evening drinks on the gorgeous wooden decks.
The evening consists of relaxation, chat, games. And on most trips Dolphins come to hunt and play under the Horizon’s fish spotlight. These majestic creatures are like unpaid crew members as they entertain everyone on board. And normally stay beside the boat all night as they playfully chase other marine life.
Secondly the boat makes its way to Whitehaven beach at 6am and as we sail the New Horizon guests are woken and passengers are greeted with a full continental breakfast including a delicious fresh fruit platter with honey and yoghurt. The Horizon arrives to Whitehaven for just before 8am. And an experienced tour guide takes the passengers to a lookout which is the 4th most photographed place in Australia. And overlooks the pristine beauty of hill inlet on Whitehaven Beach.
The guide then takes the excited guests to north Whitehaven Beach. And everyone can explore the white, silica sand first hand. As well as soak up the sun or play beach games. Guests return to the vessel at 11am. And after relaxing sailing and some lunch we arrive to our snorkel and dive destination. The New Horizon has a superbly equipped dive operation and even has its own dive compressor so diving is not restricted. Whether it be snorkelling or scuba diving. This underwater world lights up before your eyes and is the richest marine habitat in the world,.
Exploring the reef is obviously a huge highlight for most guests. Not only in the trip but as a truly memorable life experience. After snorkelling and diving it’s time for more fun on the dive platform. If time allows we cruise around and enjoy another snorkel. After a busy day of activities, a freshen up is in order while our chef prepares afternoon snacks.
Our experienced crew once again hoist the sails to provide a picturesque sunset sail to the overnight anchorage. If time allows we try to watch the sunset. On a beautiful sandy spit off an island called Langford which is nothing short of stunning! To finish the day off we have an interactive, light-hearted and informative chart read. Which tells all the guests about where we have been what we have done. After dinner, the guests can enjoy a few beers and reflect on their day in paradise.
Thirdly the final day starts with a singing wake up call by one of the crew at 6.00am. And sail you to your final snorkel/dive location. You can have a go at paddle-boarding, banana boat or JetBoat riding (banana boating and jetboating are an additional cost). After this final goodbye to the coral reef there is more water sliding and diving board action to be had. The anchor is raised at approximately 10am and then back to Airlie Beach to arrive at 12pm. But not before a thrill ride across the Whitsunday passage. As this stretch of water offers the most open and fun options for New Horizon’s massive sails.
That’s the end of the trip, but it’s not the end of the service we offer. Because we have an exclusive after-party organised where our guests thanks to our partners Boaty’s and Boom Nightclub. This is your chance to have one final hoorah with our crew and enjoy VIP discounts on food and drinks. This rounds off the trip and sends off our passengers with a smile to their next destination.
