Here’s a list of some of the places Cheap Az Travel recommend seeing along the way if you hire a campervan….

Travelling from Melbourne to Sydney in a campervan is best if you are wanting to travel at your own pace. Lots of people fly up or get the bus overnight but there are so many reasons to grab a campervan or motorhome. And Wombat Spotting is one of them.

Victoria

Mornington Peninsula

Your first stop should be the Mornington Peninsula.  Many activities to do when you are visiting Mornington Peninsula such as trying their wonderful food, sipping wine at the wineries, diving, fishing surfing at the surf beaches, hiking trails, hot sprints and an enchanted maze with towering trees.
Some caravan parks and campsites available are Kangerong Holiday park and Foreshore Camping.

Phillip Island

On your trip from Melbourne to Sydney Phillip island is a must go to on your road trip. Watch the penguins waddle in from the sea, Phillip island wildlife park, or visit A Maze ’N Things where there is illusions, puzzles, mazes, and mini golf courses.
some caravan parks and campsites available areBig4 Phillip Island Caravan Park, a Maze ‘N Things holiday cabin park.

Wilsons Promontory

After your stop at Phillip island a must stop is Wilsons promontory. There is many hiking tracks and lots of different wildlife to see. Make sure keep you eyes peeled for the elusive Wombat, they can be seen rambling through the bushes and even on the side of the roads.
There have lots of accommodation options for whether you want to camp under the night sky or if you want somewhere to shower and use a bathroom.
Some caravan parks and campsites at Wilsons prom are Yanakie caravan park and Franklin river reserve campground.

Lakes Entrance

Your last stop on your road trip through Victoria before you reach Sydney is lakes entrance. Located on the edge of the 90 mile beach this cute seaside town has some awesome activities such as hiring a paddle boat, visiting the Buhan caves, taking a winery cruise or having a picnic down at the beach. And if you’ve ever wanted to go camel riding then it is an awesome activity to do while stopped at lakes entrance.
Some caravan parks and campsites at lakes entrance are Lakes Entrance Recreation and camping reserve and north arm tourist park.

New South Wales

Merimbula

Merimbula is a beautiful place with stunning beaches and seafood feasts where they locally grow oysters, mussels and crayfish. While visiting you can go boating, fishing, snorkelling and not to mention the boardwalks which is a must do while visiting.
Caravan parks and campsites you can stop at are Hobart Beach Campground and Gillard’s Campground

Batemans Bay

Next stop on your road trip you have Batemans bay. The further you travel up north the better the beaches get. Batemans bay is a great place for exploring the natural beauty’s on the NSW South Coast.
Caravan and campsites you might want to stop at is the Canberra south motor park and Woods Reserve.

Canberra

While on your road trip if you are wanting to see the capital of Australia then head up west to Canberra. While visiting Canberra you can see sites such as parliament house, the Australian war memorial and explore some of the beautiful galleries. Canberra holds a wide range of cultural and historical sites that are an important part of Australia.
Caravan parks and camp sites, you can stay at while stopping in Canberra is the Canberra south motor park and woods reserve.

Jervis bay

Heading back on to the coast your next stop is Jervis bay. Here visiting Hyams beach is a must it has been voted the whitest sand beach in the world and has beautiful turquoise blue waters.  Plenty of stunning beaches and lots to do while here we recommend spending more than just one night here. Some activities we recommend while visiting Jervis Bay is scuba diving, whale and dolphin watching, having a few drinks at the wineries, and trying out some of the local cafes.
Caravan parks and camp sites to stay at is the Warri camping reserve and yass soldiers club.

Detour before Sydney: Blue Mountains

You’ve almost made it to Sydney but just before you get there take a little break and see the gorgeous beaches and scenic ocean views and head to the Blue Mountains. Get those Instagram shots in the beautiful rainforests and dazzling views of the deep cliffs.  Go along the scenic skyline for an ariel view of the Three sisters which has got to be the most spectacular landmark in the Blue Mountains’. If you are the adventurer type of person you can abseil down the waterfalls.
Caravan parks and campsites that you can stop at is Yalwal campground, Bummaroo Ford campground and the Army camps.

Sydney

You’ve finally made it to Sydney but the fun doesn’t stop now. You defiantly won’t run out of things to do while visiting, be sure to check out some of Sydney’s famous attractions such as the Sydney Opera House, The Harbour Bridge and The Sea Life Aquarium Sydney.

There is plenty of campsites to stay at for free or cheap along your journey from Melbourne to Sydney. We recommend travelling in a campervan because there is so many beautiful locations to explore on your way, and that you wouldn’t experience it all if you just flew there.

Are you looking for a trip to the Whitsundays? The number one thing to do is a boat trip around the 74 islands of the Whitsundays. Most boats will take you to stunning Whitehaven Beach famous for its silica sandy white beach and turquoise waters. Known to most travelers as their favorite beach on the East Coast and one of Australia’s.

How much does a boat trip cost?

Depending on your time and money there are plenty of options to choose. If you are on a tight schedule or shoestring budget you can do a one day tour from $120. 2 Day 1 Night $300 and 2 Days 2 Night $400 – $500.

Depending on what style of adventure you want to have from relaxing getaways to more of a social boat.

Whats included on the boats?

On all boat trips your snorkeling equipment is included. If you want to be a bit more adventures you can do an intro or a certified dive. Most times they cost around an extra $50 per dive.

An intro dive is welcoming to scuba diving. If you have never tried it before it’s the perfect and easiest way to get a taste for it. And you will be led by your expert boat crews all the way. And it’s a fantastic way of getting up close with all the great wonders the Great Barrier Reef has to offer. With many of the boats, you also have some extra activities for your adventure. From sea kayaks, water slides, diving boards hot tubs even sea scooters.

Is food included on the trips ?

Most food is included on all the boats. On a One day tour, you will receive morning & afternoon tea and lunch. With overnight tours, most of your meals are all included. But some may vary so you can check that with any of the boat menu lists. With accommodation, boats range from open hull dorm beds shared double beds or private rooms. You can even camp in a swag under the stars on some trips.

Are there different type of boats?

There is a full range of boats to choose from. Such as Catamarans,  tall sailing ships, Clipper boats, speedy rafting boats, and maxi Boats. So depending on what style and adventure you want there is a lot to choose from. We can help narrow that search down for you.

Can I do a Reef Flights ?

If your looking for that extra scenery photo. Try any of the helicopter or plane options over the islands and reef. Heart Reef is an extremely popular trip and yes it’s in the shape of a heart. And you can also land at Whitehaven Beach trips range from $150 up to $600.

Airlie Beach the heart of the reef

Airlie Beach  Is a fun little town located 620 km south of Cairns. With lots of great local pubs, and of course fresh seafood restaurants. So if you going to have a couple of spare days before your boat trip out. You will have plenty of things to do. Or you can just relax and chill by the pool or the lagoon in the main town. Skydiving in Airlie is one of the most popular drop zones. With people traveling to Airlie Beach and along the East Coast with amazing views of the reef and the islands. Just a few minute’s drive from Airlie Beach you have the hinterland of Conway National Park. Where you can do walking trails and scenic lookouts over the islands.

When should I plan my trip to the whitsundays and when should i book my tour ?

Christmas is an extremely busy time for the Whitsundays. So we do recommend booking your boat trip a few weeks or even a month or two in advance. Don’t forget whale season is an awesome time between May & September that’s Queensland winter months but still, great weather. Imagine being on your boat and getting the chance to see whales migrating along the coast. January to the end of March is the wet season. So it can have heavy rain and be cyclonic. But sometimes the seasons are not rainy at all so it does depend on each year. So we suggest anywhere from May to December on your adventure. But you can always keep up to date with us and we can keep you in the know.

We hope to see you real soon in the Whitsundays for your adventure of a lifetime.

Am i eligible for a Medicare Card in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa?

Please read on for information regarding Eligibility and Options for having a Medicare Card whilst in Australia. Each country has their own agreement with
Australia so make sure you know what your options are. In saying that i would still recommend getting travel insurance for when you are in Australia
to cover yourself in an emergency. Hit us up on live chat or insta cheapaz.travel or facebook for any extra info.

The agreement conditions tell you:

  • what medical care you can get under Medicare while you visit Australia, and
  • the documents you need to show us to prove that you are eligible under the RHCA

Read the agreement conditions for the RHCA country you were living in before coming to Australia, from the list below.

We have agreements with:

  • Belgium
  • Finland
  • Italy – you don’t need to have been living in Italy, but you must be an Italian citizen and meet the other agreement conditions
  • Malta
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Ireland
  • Slovenia
  • Sweden
  • United Kingdom

What’s covered

The agreements cover medically necessary care. It must be:

  • care for illness or injury that can’t wait till you get home
  • care that Medicare covers

Who they cover

You must be meet the agreement conditions to be covered.

Who they don’t cover

You have a 405 or 410 visa

You’re not covered if you’re here on a:

  • 405 investor retirement visa
  • 410 retirement visa that you applied for after 1 December 1998

Read about health care for 405 and 410 visa holders.

You’re a student from one of these countries

You’re not covered if you’re a student from:

  • Finland
  • Malta
  • Norway
  • the Republic of Ireland

Most people need overseas student health cover to come to Australia on a student visa.

How long your cover lasts

It starts the day you arrive in Australia.

When it ends depends on the country you’re visiting from. You can only use it while you have a valid visa.

It ends on the day your visa expires if you’re from:

  • Finland
  • Norway
  • the Republic of Ireland
  • Sweden
  • the UK

It ends on the day your European Health Insurance Card expires, or the day your visa expires if earlier, if you’re from:

  • Belgium
  • the Netherlands
  • Slovenia

If you’re from Italy or Malta, it ends:

Enrol in Medicare

To enrol you need to visit a service centre with a completed Medicare enrolment form and documents you need to show. For documents you need to show, refer
to information under your country. Contact us for link.

For treatment you had beforehand you can claim for an assessment of benefit after enrolling. Your benefit starts the day you arrived in Australia.

When you get care from a doctor

You can see a doctor in a private practice or a community health centre. It is up to the doctor how they charge you for the service.

They can charge you by:

  • giving you a bill to pay – most doctors in private practice do this
  • sending the bill straight to Medicare – we call this bulk billing (you must be enrolled in Medicare)

If the service is covered under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), you can get some of the cost back from Medicare as long as you have enrolled for
Medicare.

See if your service is on the MBS list on the Department of Health MBS Onlinewebsite.

If the doctor bills you

You can:

  • pay the bill on the day you see the doctor, or
  • take the unpaid bill to Medicare

It is up to the doctor if you have to pay them at the time of the service.

If you are required to pay on the day

You can:

  • claim your benefit online using your Medicare online account
  • ask the staff at the doctor to claim for you on the spot
  • fill in a Medicare claim form and post it to us with the doctor’s bill and receipt
  • claim in person at a service centre
  • claim over the phone by calling the Medicare general enquiries line

We can only pay the money into an Australian bank account. You’ll need to give us your bank details.

If you aren’t required to pay on the day

You can:

  • fill in a Medicare claim form and take it and the doctor’s bill to a service centre, or
  • post the bill to us – we’ll send you a cheque to take to the doctor

You will also need to pay any difference owing to the doctor.

If the doctor bills Medicare – Bulk Billing

Show your reciprocal health care card and sign a Medicare form after you see the doctor. You won’t need to pay.

When you get care from a hospital

Go to a public hospital. Show your passport or reciprocal health care card to the staff. Tell them you want care as a public patient.

As a public patient in a public hospital you won’t have to pay for your stay or treatment there.

You’ll need to pay the full fees if you choose care:

  • as a private patient in a public hospital
  • in a private hospital

You can’t claim these fees back from Medicare.

One day tour to Wilsons Promontory National Park

You like hiking, discovering the nature and want to spot wild animals? The one-day Wilsons Promontory National Park is the right tour for you.

Our trip started at 7 am, pretty early in the morning but you have to drive a while to get there. We had a stop in Wonthaggi, a pretty
little town. When you haven’t prepared your lunch, you can buy it there.

After that we went to the park. The landscape is incredibly beautiful there. Hills, rocks and the ocean surrounded you. Our first stop with the bus
was near the entrance where you can see some of the wild animals. Right next to our parking spot were some Emus. They weren’t shy, we were only
30 meters away from them and took pictures. Then we wanted to spot some wallabies, kangaroos and wombats, but sadly they were all hiding because
of the heat. With a lot luck we could spotted a wallaby.

After that we drove into the park and stopped near to Mount Bishop. We went hiking up to the top. The way isn’t that long but it’s
hard because of the gradient. We made a few stops on our way up to enjoy the view over the park. Between the trees you could see the Norman Beach
and the squeaky beach, where we wanted to go afterwards. After a while the path became smaller and you had to be aware not to trip over roots or
little stones. The sun was getting hotter because it was around midday when we arrived the top.

We had a little rest and ate our lunch on a big rock. It was so quiet up there, you could hear the birds and cicadas. Around the corner was also a
little lookout where you could see the ocean and the beaches. We all climbed a little rock and took photos with a part of the park and the beach
behind us.

Then we made our way back and stopped at Squeaky Beach which is just a few minutes a few. There we had some time to dip our feet in
the water and take a walk along the beach. When I walk on the sand, I knew exactly why it’s called “Squeaky Beach”. I never heard these noises
when I was walking on a beach before, even the texture is different. It was nice to cool down after the long walk up to the top, also because it
was a warm day.

Our tour guide gave us the option to got to the night market in Melbourne, it is a great idea, but we were all so tired that we just wanted to go home
and fall asleep.

Altogether the trip is really worth it, especially if you don’t want to sit in the bus all day instead of discovering the nature and find hidden places.
Your tour guide will tell you things about the animals you don’t know yet. It is interesting to practise your knowledge and sometimes you will
be surprise.
